Spanish Interest Group.

Autumn, Winter and Spring 2025/2026

!Bienvenidos! We are a small group of enthusiastic members, a lively, chatty bunch, who meet in the Methodist church hall at 2.00pm  - 4pm, the first Mondays in the month. We're in our fourth year in Churchdown now, and still enjoying it.

We've been using the book 'Pasos 1' as a base to work around, and gradually improving language skills through songs, poems and video, as well as practicing new Spanish vocabulary and grammar. Previously, we've talked about families, jobs, places in the Spanish speaking world, been chatting in Spanish about booking accommodation, renting for holidays, discussing daily routines and leisure activities, as well as getting practice in shopping, prices and weights. We are covering challenging aspects when travelling: Getting medical help, reporting lost property and other tasks will be dealt with in the coming year.    Hopefully we will invite more occasional guest speakers who have experience of living and working in the Spanish world. 

Members give short presentations on festivals and special events, current and cultural affairs in the Hispanic world.  We often take a look at magazine and news articles,  to keep up to date with what is going on in the modern Hispanic world.  We also share our own Spanish reading of stories and books in Spanish.  

We have a short waiting list for the group, but please feel free to add your name to this, if you have a little Spanish already that you would like to improve.
